JOB TITLE: Firefighter/ Paramedic/ EMT (SAFER Grant Funded)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Northeast Ingham Emergency Service Authority, Fire Rescue is currently accepting applications for position of Firefighter/ Paramedic/EMT.

We are expanding our team with six (6 new, permanent positions, made possible through funding from the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency
Response (SAFER) Grant Program. These roles are critical to improving our operational readiness, enhancing community safety, and ensuring compliance with national staffing recommendations.
FUNDING DETAILS: This position is 100% funded through the federal SAFER grant for a period of performance of 36 months (3 years). While the department is under no obligation to continue funding the positions after this period, the goal of the grant is to establish a long-term staffing enhancement that will be sustained by the municipal budget following the grant’s conclusion.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Responding to emergencies and performing fire suppression operations, but dedicate significant time to training, equipment and station maintenance, and community outreach. This routine includes but not limited to checking and cleaning emergency vehicles and gear, routine station duties, and conducting safety inspections and public education sessions. In addition, complete required scheduled training to include but not limited to emergency response, HazMat, Incident Command, Fire Ground Operations.

Provides Advanced Life Support as directed by the Tri-County Emergency Medical Control Authority protocols, including medical evaluation, treatment and stabilization of the critically ill and injured; responds to emergency rescue situations involving potential loss of life or bodily injury; maintains control, manages and directs patient care at the scene of a prehospital emergency; provides training and instruction to lesser trained personnel; performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be 18 years of age.
• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Social Security Card
• Michigan Motor vehicle Operators license with no restrictions other than glasses.
• Clear driving records, and able to provide documentation of driving record.
• Clear criminal records, with no felony convictions.
• Completed Hepta-vax injections, and ability to provide proof.
• Current TB test results within one year of date of application.
• Must be in good physical condition.
• No physical limitations, including but not limited to lifting heavy objects for short periods of time.
• Vision correctable to 20/20
• Current State of Michigan – Advanced Emergency Medical Technician License
• Current Basic Life Support Card Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Card
• Firefighter I & II Certification
